India generates 62 million tonnes of mixed waste every year, and this number is only set to grow by 4%. Almost 70% of this is paper, plastic and e-waste, found in public spaces and filling up our parks and water bodies. This waste is majorly small particle, non-biodegradable, toxic and is killing plant and animal life.
With the imminent and catastrophic consequences facing us today on the safe collection and disposal of waste, it is imperative that we as a society get involved, on the ground, in our neighbourhoods, parks and lakes to make a change.
India Plog Run is our attempt at tackling this issue head-on, mobilising individuals and local communities, NGO’s and citizens to grab this garbage while combining it with a healthy lifestyle.
By doing it together on October 2nd, 2019, we come together as a collective to remove a tonne of waste, work together as a community and ensure this becomes a sustainable activity for the health of our environment.
Help us make the India Plog Run a success. Speak up for your public spaces and be a part of this unique event. Whether you’re a Volunteer, Sponsor, Donor, NGO Partner or Media, you are invited to participate.
